A total of 8 items (books and/or videos) maybe borrowed
at any one time. This does not include inter library loans. See the library
services section on borrowing

How long may I borrow books, videos and CDRoms for?
Books have an initial loan period of 1 month and the loan
maybe renewed on 2 further occasions making a maximum loan period of 3
months. There are also some short loan books with a loan period of 14
days with 2 further consequetive renewals making a maximum short loan
period of 6 weeks. Whereas videos and CDRoms are loaned for a period of
1 week initially with 2 further consequetive renewals permitted making
a maximum loan period of 3 weeks. See the library services section on

Where do I return books to?
Books maybe returned to the library desk or the return books
box inside the library entrance which is available out of hours. There
is also a return books box on level B of the hospital, in the corridor
by the canteen and nurse bank entrances. This box is also available out
of hours and is emptied on a daily basis.

How do I obtain an out of hours library door card?
Access to library resources outside normal opening hours
is available to library members via a card system on receipt of a £10
deposit, which is refundable when your card is returned. A form needs
to be completed which is available from the library.

How do I obtain an Athens username and password?
An Athens username and password can be obtained by completing
the self registration form at: https://register.athensams.net/nhs/.

What photocopying facilities are there in the library?
There is a self-service photocopy machine available in the
library. The library also offers a charged photocopying service. Further
