Osteoporosis
An information leaflet issued by the British Dietetic Association in November 2005, and written by Catherine Collins. Osteoporosis is defined and its causes outlined, and advice is offered on how to safeguard bones against the development of osteoporosis. Calcium requirements and dietary sources of calcium, vitamin D requirements, food sources rich in vitamin D, and other important lifestyle factors are reviewed.


Understanding osteoporosis
This brief public-education leaflet provides information about osteoporosis. Topics covered include: symptoms and risk factors; detection; prevention; and treatment. Links to other useful resources are included.


Bone health
A public-oriented document published in 2004 by the British Nutrition Foundation. The guide covers diet and bone health, bone diseases such as rickets, osteomalacia and osteoporosis, details of foods containing calcium, and information about peak bone mass.
