A safer place to work : protecting NHS hospital and ambulance staff from violence and aggression - This report is published by the National Audit Office, (NAO) (March 2003) and examines the extent and impact of violence and aggression within the NHS.

BMA : violence at work : the experience of UK doctors - This report was produced by the Health Policy and Economic Research Unit of the British Medical Association (BMA) in October 2003 and presents the findings from a national survey of 3000 doctors.

Not alone : a guide for the better protection of lone workers in the NHS
- is produced by the NHS Security Management Service (NHS SMS), contains guidance for NHS health bodies on what should be in place to provide best protection for staff who may be working alone in a diverse range of environments.
