This page brings together the online health management resources
available to our users in north Hampshire. Other than the first two listed,
all of these resources require an Athens username and password. Any NHS
member of staff or other eligible user can register for an NHS Athens
username at: https://register.athensams.net/nhs/
If you'd like help, training or advice on using these resources, if you'd
like a professional search done for you, or to get hold of any documents
you find, contact the library.
NLH Health Management Specialist Library
This is a UK gateway to news, policies and documents of interest to NHS
managers. Includes a series of Hot Topics which bring together all the
key documents in areas of current relevance to the NHS. It is part of
the more general National Library for Health site, through which you can
search for a variety of resources. You'll need an Athens password to get
into some of them.
Advisory Board Company -
available to BNHFT staff only - to
register for a password
The Advisory Board Company are a US-based healthcare research company
that develop research and share proven best practices with its international
members. The membership that Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation
Trust holds - the Council of International Hospitals - gives all employees
unlimited access to all of the research, resources and services through
11 research programmes. Each programme, focusing on a specific area of
the hospital, publishes research and best practices, holds member meetings
and teleconferences, and has an expert-led research team available to
answer questions.
BMJ Health Intelligence

BMJ Health intelligence is an authoritative source of public health information.
It brings together evidence, data, cost effectiveness information, local
projects, policies, targets, and guidelines into one easy-to-use web based
resource.
Emerald Management First
- requires Athens username and password
Comprises full-text articles and case studies from the world's top companies,
business schools and management thinkers, reviews of articles from management
journals, summaries of key topics, guru interviews and book reviews.
HMIC
- requires Athens username and password
A compilation of two databases with a UK focus, covering health management
and services, social care, service development, and NHS organisation and
administration. It includes official publications, journal articles and
grey literature. Not everything is given in full text, but you can always
ask the library to get hold
of things that aren't.
Management Journals - requires Athens username and password
If you're after a specific title, you can check its availability at MyJournals
Remember to log in with your Athens to see everything that's available
to you. The titles available include over 1000 relating to health management
from the ProQuest
Health Management and Ebsco
Health Elite collections.
Management books
The Healthcare Library collection includes over 1000 management titles,
and we're always keen to hear about more we should have. You can see what's
available by searching our catalogue, SWIMS
or visiting us in the Ark. Most management titles are at the shelf mark
WX. If you're after a book we haven't got, we can get hold of it for you
from another library.
